Healing Waters North Texas 9/15-17
North Texas Healing Waters had it’s first post-flood outing at Beavers Bend this past Tuesday to Thursday. It was a very successful outing despite the obvious conclusion that no one informed the trout to be cooperative. This was evident by the fact that by Thursday morning just about every veteran was to tired or sore to fish anymore.
The weather was very pleasant if a bit on the humid side and the Park was just about empty. We had the river almost to ourselves.
The LMFRF has donated funding and many hours of time by our membership to help this worthy cause. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Linda King at 580-494-6115.
After an exhausting day of watching the veterans thrash the water to within an inch of it’s Life with their fly lines, we were treating to a fantastic home-cooked meal by two new Ladies Clubs; OHCE-Northern Stars and OHCE-Besy Beez (Up until this trip, dinner was provided by OHCE-Harris. The group that Linda King belongs to.) We are not going to go into the deserts that were provided but I can say that they were ALL fantastic!
Wednesday was more of the same with the trout being stubborn but being on the river in September is wonderful by itself. We all ate dinner at the Hochatown Lodge outside, feasting on burgers, dogs, and pizza from Grateful Head. Linda and Jesse King showed up to let us share his 68th birthday with them and the cake from Pruitt’s – that I will again attest to as being deliscious.
The next BB Healing Waters trip is October and that is an all-female veteran group with female guides to show them the ropes. Last year’s inaugural female trip was a resounding success and this trip was planned for immediately afterward.
